Safrea Chronicle
Message from the Editor:
News editors in South Africa have been extremely spoiled. They almost never sit with a front page that needs to be filled, and a choice between an agricultural subsidy tiff and a public transport slowdown.
No... our front pages are always packed daily with stories that - in any other country - would keep journalists busy for months.
When Trump-supporting right-wingers stormed the American Capitol on January 6th this year, one would have thought the event meant the end of civilisation as we know it. In South Africa, it would mean 'Oh, it's Thursday'.
However, sometimes one can have too much of a good thing. This weekend we had around six earth-shaking events, all of which have massive implications for our lives. News bulletins were bursting at the seams. Just in case you have forgotten where some of it all started, here is an excellent documentary that sets out our last two decades:
Corruption in South Africa
In order to prevent information overload, we recommend that you indulge in a few things that are completely different and highly entertaining: our Chronicle with its variety of items. Enjoy.
