SAFREA Chronicle
Message from the Editor:
It used to be that we stayed up till midnight on Dec 31 to see the New Year in. This year we stayed up to make sure the the Old Year left.
While we all thought that 2021 was going to be the fresh start: the re-set; the new beginning, we now feel aggrieved that it has turned out merely to be Son of 2020. There is still lockdown, still social distancing, still daily infection rates. However, there is also still our Chronicle, which has picked up the cudgels of the New Year a little belatedly. This is because our contributors were still a tad bewildered by the feeling that 2020, like cucumber, was simply repeating on us.
But we are now back to normal, with our mix of the informative, the eclectic, the entertaining, and the common sense. Enjoy.

Exposing abusers isn't a walk in the park

A social media storm erupted recently after a young woman alleged she'd been raped by two very popular DJs. As is to be expected, there were those that believed her "because famous people believe they can get away with murder", and of course the celebrities' fans who wanted to know why it took her so long to report the alleged rape. One thing for sure is it's never easy for a woman to report sexual abuse by the rich and powerful. This is why many of the perpetrators continue to walk free after violating many women. The same society that marches during The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence uses a different yardstick altogether when act of violence have been committed by powerful people.

The Camera & Coffee Sessions, the coffee and working with Light edition...

Photography means light drawing or drawing with light. The sensor/film in the camera is the light-sensitive surface that we draw on, it's like a sheet of paper if you like. The camera is a pencil or pen with which we draw our drawings with light or photographs as they are commonly called. Light is the lead or ink with which …

From the Archives of the Writing of the Book ‘ONE Life - Love - Energy’

I grew alarmingly in compassion and empathy for people and all life in the Universe. Having always had a love for people I began researching the philosophy of all life in the Universe being one life. I developed the sub-philosophy of all life being one life, from one creation, one energy, as created by one God. From this sprang the idea of writing a book titled ‘ONE Life-Love-Energy’, which was first electronically published in 2008, then a second edition in 2013.

VISUAL 8 vs THE FIVERR'S OF THE WORLD

Freelancing platforms like Fiverr bring together freelancers from countries across the world – but sadly they're not attractive enough for professional, experienced designers to take up opportunities.
