A New Beginning Each New Day – By Vaughan Jones.

A new day dawns with the sun to the east,

A renewed freshness of energy released.

For piles of trials and trivial pursuits,

Get ready and strap on your boots.

Out and about, and so it starts,

Another day of traffic darts.

School starts at eight,

Don’t ever be late.

Work at nine,

No sunshine.

But, hey,

It’s a new day,

Things to do, people to see,

Places to go to, don’t feel free.

Life’s eternal cycle of duties begins,

Goals to achieve, life’s rewards to win.

Round and round, ever striving to succeed,

And so it begins as this is how life is decreed.

But to keep calm, tranquil, and be of sound mind,

Not forgetting to give love, make peace, and be kind.

I wrote this poem in response to a challenge in the Poet’s Corner Group in the Writing.com website. The challenge was to write a poem in the Etheree or Reverse Etheree poetic form. The poetry form, Etheree, consists of 10 lines of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 syllables. Etheree can also be reversed and written 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.  I received a couple of five-star ratings for this poem, which materialized as a double Etheree, i.e. an Etheree and a Reverse Etheree combined, with a slight variation in the syllabic count. Until recently I had all my poems and writings hosted on this Writing.com website, but recently I decided to remove my poems in anticipation of publishing all my poetic and lyrical works in a book. The title of the book will be ‘The Musings of a Mindful Man’. Hoping you will look out for it in the next couple of months.
