Calm and Relaxed, Restored Health and Vitality

Seven Chacra Meditation – ex Dreamstime.

Life is a mad rush, constant stress and pressure prevails almost twenty-four seven. And we often wander what can be done to lessen or alleviate this debilitating phenomenon. People suggest medicines that have been prescribed, like anti-depressants and tranquilizers, or to try natural health products. But these never seem to cure the cause or the symptoms of stress induced illness.

Many years ago, I considered meditating, but I automatically rejected the idea and thought that this must be only something the Buddhas and Tibetan monks do. I could not handle the thought of sitting in a Lotus position for who knows how long until I would be in a meditative state.

Somehow the urge to meditate continued, and eventually it dawned on me that all and everything in the universe is energy. For the past ten years I have been a firm believer in and a regular practitioner of meditation. One does not need to take on the Lotus posture, nor does one have to use a mantra, or use any mystical chant.

Meditation is the practice of centering one’s energies, recognizing the existence and flow of Prana (Universal Life) and use breathing as a centering method whereby one relaxes one’s body and mind, but continues to function mentally to achieve enlightenment and healing. Body asleep – mind awake.

Your brain has nerve cells that fire electrical signals and oscillate in distinctive arrangements called brainwave patterns. These patterns are closely connected to your thoughts, emotions, mood, biological chemistry, everything you do and think. These oscillation frequencies have been scientifically and medically researched.

  • Brainwave states

The Four Brainwave States are:

Beta 13-40 Hz

This is the brainwave state that we are in during our awake hours. Beta Is associated with worry, stress, paranoia, fear, irritability, moodiness, anger. People spend most of their awake time in the beta state with so much internal chatter.

Alpha 7-13 Hz

Meditation and relaxation begins with the Alpha state. Effortless creativity flows. Enhanced memory and a super-learning capability develops. A harmonious, peaceful state of mind. Habits, fears and phobias begin to melt away. One becomes tranquil and calm.

Theta 4 – 7 Hz

Produces insight, intuition, inspiration, and answers to important questions. It makes one feel like you are floating. A wonderful realm to explore.

Delta 0 – 4 Hz

This state provide renewal, healing, rejuvenation, deep, dreamless sleep. Very rewarding, it is said to be the entrance to non-physical states of reality. Delta is the best state for immune system function, restoration, and health.

The unit of measure known as Hz stands for Hertz, the measure of oscillating energy frequency, or brainwave frequencies.

Most importantly, as with all else in the reality of your life, meditation is a matter of personal choice. If you intend to meditate, it will happen for you with a little guidance. Meditation is not something that is put on you, nor does it occur in any magical way; and nor can anyone else do it for you. it depends entirely on your intent.

Strange as it may seem, and contrary to common knowledge, we all “meditate” a little each day. We do this by drifting into a state of daydreaming and being absent minded. Have you noticed that when you are daydreaming your body relaxes, your breathing slows, and your mind is calm? Well, hullo there, you are entering the first stage of meditation; the Alpha state.

So many benefits exist for those who meditate. One can:

  •  Reduce stress, worry, anxiety, depression, irritability, and moodiness
  • ·Amplify feelings of inspiration, vitality, rejuvenation, happiness, and confidence
  • ·Enhance and improve sleep, eliminate insomnia, and boost energy
  • ·Live more and more in the “now”
  • ·Eliminate all uncontrollable habits, fears, and phobias
  • ·Significantly decrease “mental chatter “and self-destructive impulses
  • ·Explore and expand your awareness and state of consciousness
  • ·Increase emotional stability, psychological balance, and mental harmony
  • ·Enhance your intuition, creativity, and goal reaching ability
  • ·Have more mental processing power
  • ·Increase learning ability, memory, and concentration
  • ·Maintain clarity of thought at all times.

I use brainwave entrainment, which I download from IAwake Technologies, an institution who has researched this and has developed recordings that work wonderfully. The site provides clear explanations and provide free ten-minute samples that one can download.

Let me know if you have any questions. I would be happy to assist you.

  1. Very thought-provoking. I am going to try a light form of meditation to get over the after-lunch nap attack!
